Sliding lid for concrete bunker
This project relied on our status as a leading industrial metal fabricator in Tasmania, being able to work across Australia.
Our customer had an issue with their remotely-located concrete Bunkers being difficult to access with large heavy concrete lids that require an excavator or the like on-site to lift it. Their goal was to design a lid that would withstand the elements and be able to be removed by the ground crew themselves, usually two people.
With some discussion and design changes along the way the sliding lid was approved for construction. The frame was made from Galvanised Steel Angle Iron, strong enough to carry the load, long lasting and easy to install on site. The Canopy was constructed from aluminium due to considerations regarding the weight and environment.
As part of the kit supplied to the customer was a detailed set of installation instructions which made the site installation - in testing conditions - easier.
